REVIEW: A Private Room Airbnb | Guadalajara
In Guadalajara, you can find a five-star Airbnb in a cute neighborhood for under $15 a night. There are many rooms that are cheaper but at this price point, my Airbnb was definitely a great value. Here’s why I think this Airbnb is a must-stay for visitors passing through GDL.
Cost per night: $15

Miguel’s place is located closer to the Tlaquepaque neighborhood than it is to downtown GDL (Zona Centro) but with Uber being so easy to use, overall the place is a great value. You’ll get a room, a private bathroom, a safe, reliable WiFi, air con, and a cute neighborhood. This place isn’t flashy at all or luxurious but it’s very safe and has everything you need to be comfortable. The Plaza is a nice walk away and it’s a fancy mall where you can find an ATM, chain restaurants, a supermarket, clothes etc. I ran there to get some toothpaste and gain my footing before I explored GDL.
The neighborhood is oh-so cute and safe compared to other parts of GDL that are either dirty or touristy. The apartment is in a gated complex which is super helpful as well. You’ll need to UBER to get into town and it costs about $4 one way. The wait for an Uber is about 3 minutes. I didn’t experience any major traffic. There is a family that lives in the complex so be ready for screaming children in the evening but they go to bed around 9pm. Miguel’s English is really great and his wife is kind but only speaks Spanish so definitely learn some phrases so you can chat with her! Miguel is also super organized and waited for me at the front gate to let me in and so I could easily find the house.
If you’re looking for an unpretentious place that’s a great value and has all the basic necessities, I would stay here.
